Denmark approves artificial island to site 10GW Offshore Wind hub

Denmark has approved a plan to build an artificial island in the North Sea that will be a hub to hundreds of offshore wind turbines, 260m tall, that will generate 10GW, enough energy for 10 million households. The first stage will be the size of 18 soccer pitches, for 3GW, costing €29bn ($34bn), and should be operational by around 2033. Wave Energy: how variable geometry designs can raise conversion efficiency

Wave energy is another renewable technology waiting to break through. One main challenge is that about 35%–50% of WEC (wave energy converter) costs come from the device structure alone. Analysis shows Wind and Solar costs will continue to fall dramatically throughout the 2020s

Michael Taylor at IRENA has summarised its latest studies that show how the cost of renewables are set to continue declining dramatically through to 2030. Europe could have subsidy-free Offshore Wind by 2023

Germany’s Corona stimulus package: what’s in it for energy, climate?

Floating Offshore Wind Turbines: utility scale by 2024?

Offshore Wind: a new source of clean energy for Asia?

Offshore wind is seeing the same dramatic cost reductions as solar and onshore wind. Though still more expensive, it’s heading towards $60/MWh parity with them across Europe.
